All I know about leadership I learned from . . . What items could a person use to describe leadership qualities? Inspired by the student council advisors at my high school. Student council was a big part of my life in high school. I have participated in it since my frst year of high school. When I frst joined,I was quiet,na?ve,and unwilling to participate in many activities. I was scared to meet new people and afraid to apply myself. This all began to change. Half way through my frst year in student council,one of the advisors can up to me and asked why I did not participate that much. I did not have an answer for her and did not know how to respond. After this,I began to think of an answer. I became frustrated and decided to change. I started to show up at events and had a great time. I realized I loved this and wanted to start leading these activities. In my sophomore,junior,and now my senior year of high school,I asserted myself and took on a strong leadership role in student council. I did not fgure out the answer to why I was so reserved until this year with the help of this question. When I looked up leadership in the dictionary,it said that it was the capacity to lead and the act or instance of leading. These are two very broad defnitions of leadership. Many people have different notions of what this word actually means. When I was challenged to use different items to describe what leadership actually is,I thought this was going to be a hard and obnoxious task. What could I learn from comparing leadership to a stuffed animal or a rubber chicken? But when I sat down to come up with a couple of answers,I realized that leadership could be compared to almost anything a person wants. All I know about leadership I learned from a calculator. A calculator can add everything together to come up with the best answer. It can delet e what is unnecessary and only include what is important. It can solve any type of problem. These are all important equalities a leader has to have. A leader has to be able to add all of the ideas together to make the best possible plan. Leaders have to know how to decipher the good and the bad out of an idea. They have to be versatile and know how to deal with different types of issues. All I know about leadership I learned from a ball. A ball is able to bounce back up after it is dropped. It is round and has no creases. A ball can be thrown back and forth to different people. All of these qualities are also leadership qualities. A leader has to be ready for every situation that is thrown at him or her. He or she has to be able to bounce back from any setbacks and never dwell on the past. Leaders have to exhibit many qualities and never be closed-minded about a situation. A leader must be able to delegate when he or she cannot get the work done. They have to trust everyone they lead to be able to catch the ball and keep a project rolling.
This activity made me realize that being a leader is so much more than just having authority and having the ability to take control of a situation. A leader has to be trusting of all the people he or she leads and,leaders must be able to combine ideas into one encompassing idea. They cannot sit in the background and watch events happen; they have to jump in and be involved. They should not delegate all their responsibilities away. Leadership is more than what the dictionary says it is. I learned through all of this that I have many of these qualities. I have the ability to solve problems,lead through adversity,and be versatile. From answering this question,I realized that I could lead effectively,even if my leadership style is different from other individuals. When I joined student council in my frst year of high school,I did not have these qualities because I was never put into a situation where I had to lead. I was too reserved to try. When I tried,I learned that I could succeed in this. I did not realize until I answered this question about leadership. I was never able to see that being a leader is not just about taking control of a group and telling everyone what to do. When I was a freshman,I thought leadership was this. I did not know that did not have to be forceful and strict. I stereotyped a leader then. Thisis where I went wrong. A leader is about being yourself and never letting anyone change you. I thought I had to change to be a good leaderOnly when I expanded my comfort zone did I realize this was not trueIt only took three years and a silly question/game to fgure this out.

Due to the comprehensiveness of China’s “reform and open” policies, economics plays an increasingly important role in the development of its global position. Though more and more companies built, management of companies cannot catch up with the development of the companies. Management is a burgeoning field in China, so I hope I can acquire more modern knowledge on management in England. The roots of my strong interest in business can be traced back to my childhood. My father was among the first of China’s new breed of modern entrepreneurs. As a young girl, it was inspirational hearing about his business ventures, and meeting the varied and interesting circle of entrepreneurs. My mother was also involved in business as an accountant, helping him with simple calculations. And so it was early in my life that I hoped I, also, would someday be able to enter the realm of business.
With the time of growing up, I preferred reading books to satisfy my curiosity. I never ceased to contemplate over the questions I encountered. Subjects on business and management became a special fascination to me and my knowledge of psychology as well as interest in this field was increasing rapidly.
As a high school student in China, I had to concentrate on the College Entrance Examination (CEE), even so, books not related to the exams were never excluded from my life. Unfortunately when sitting in the exam in June, I was so nervous that I didn’t score well in the CEE exam. I enrolled in the department of Computer Science in Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Any attempt to persuade myself to focus on my major turned out to be a failure at the beginning of my college life. After several terms, I realized that I would never be interested in being a programmer or an engineer. At that moment, I lost my direction and objectives.
My persistence in reading saved me from the dark situation. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed reading the books included Encyclopedia American, and some books about management by Peter F.Drucker. I began to notice something interesting: Why some companies can produce more than others? Why some company can sell more than others? Why some companies can build up but others cannot when facing the same difficulties?
With the questions in my mind, I started to read many relevant books. I was lucky to read the book “Jack: Straight from the Gut”by Jack Welch, in Which John A. Byrne makes a clear illustration that the management is important for a company. When I was a junior, I ran a bookshop by myself near my school. I should manage not only the finance in the shop but also the employees in my shop even made some strategies to enlarge the business in my shop to hold on the run the shop. From this, my interpersonal skills and the capacity in business has been greatly developed, definitely I was increasingly interested in what I was doing. By December, 20xx, I had finally determined to take business management as my career instead of IT. To accumulate more relevant knowledge, I strived to gain more practical work experience in some big companies.
Fortunately, as a senior, I began by conducting an internship in the Architecture Company in Zhejiang Province. Over six months, I worked as an assistant of the manager to harmonize the relationship between the different departments in this company and to draft some management system, which broadened my perspective of management conditions and business performance in different industries. The experience showed me that management is much more important than that of I thought in big companies. After graduation, I continued my work in this company. In May, the company offered me an opportunity to participate in an training program held by a famous management school. Through in-depth discussions with teachers and students in the classes, they all encouraged me to pursue my future career in management field because of my intellectual ability and the brand new ideas I mentioned.

Among the 26 English alphabets, the one I like most is the capitalized Dbecause this alphabet, simple as it is, is the most beautiful one. The twostrokes, one vertical line and one curve, adumbrate two totally divergenttrajectories as if serving as constant indicator of the psyche of theprofessionals in the advertising industry: to travel from one point to another,there is an infinite number of routes to choose; but ultimately speaking, thereare only two routes: one is along a straight line, the other along a curve.While the general public may opt for the first, advertising professionals shoulddecide on the second. A curved trajectory may well enable one to expand hishorizon, enrich his experience of life, and cultivate his capability forexcellent interpersonal exchange and communication. I maintain the convictionthat the longer the journey of life that one travels, the richer the experienceone can derive from life and hence the greater the novelty that he can createout of the apparently commonplace.
In 1998, I entered x University with remarkable performance at theNational College Entrance Examination (among the top 10 percent of theparticipants majoring in Humanities Disciplines). During the first year of myundergraduate studies, I majored in International Law but it immediately dawnedon me that I was not meant for studies in this field and my real interest liedin advertising. Therefore, with extra efforts I audited all the major courses inadvertising and in the second year, with a solid command of all the theoreticalknowledge of the basic courses, I transferred to Advertising Speciality. Once Iembarked on studying what really interested me, I made rapid progress and my GPAreached 3.5 (among the top three for 26 students of my class). In addition, Iachieved the highest score of the class in four most important courses in thefield: History of Chinese and Foreign Advertising, Principles of Advertising,Advertisement Planning, and Mass Communication.
As I delved deeper into my subject, I came to acquire an increasinglyprofound understanding of the nature of advertising. As a matter of fact,advertising is an art of persuasion, concerned with how the advertiser caninfluence the behavior and value orientation of the general public with hisindividually unique mentality and perspective. It is an integral branch of masscommunication, inextricably intertwined with both art and economics. At the sametime, it requires a framework of scientific management. In the course of mystudies, I learned to exploit another form of language, my advertising designs,to conduct dialogues with my audience and to convey through those work my ideasand perceptions in order to achieve the objective of affecting the recipients'psychology and conduct and realizing the value of communication. But I venturedbeyond the mere designing of individual advertisements. I also attempted at aseries of coordination work that included the planning, execution, solution andeffect of advertising. This process helped me to perfect my framework oftheoretical conceptions concerning such notions as personal communication,interpersonal communication and mass communication. I immersed myself in a widevariety of advertising courses. By studying advertising, I could feel the joy ofthinking and the charm of knowledge.
Advertising is an art more to be practiced than theorized. For myextra-curricular practice, I worked part-time for the WuHan Silver-HorseAdvertising Corporation, an advertising agency which enjoys very prestigiousreputation in and around WuHan. After being subjected to the most rigorousscreening test, I was recruited as one of the five undergraduate students frommy university and worked on several projects under the direct leadership of thechief supervisor of the Planning Department. On account of my distinctive notionand original creativity, my design for an advertisement for an automobilemaintenance center was adopted, a fact which adequately evinces my professionalqualities and tremendous potential. Later, with strong recommendations from myteacher, I worked at a medium-size advertising company in Beijing, responsiblefor the advertising agent business in the magazine Global Weekly. With thecompany's support, I participated in a number of designing contests ranging fromthe 10th Golden Calf Advertising Contest sponsored by the Taiwan's China Times,the 2nd Academy Advertising Competition sponsored by China AdvertisingAssociation to the Annual CAC Public Welfare Advertising Competition sponsoredby the publishing house of International Advertising Magazine. My participationin those events not only brought me important awards but also enabled me toderive much professional knowledge from the exchange and cooperation with otherstaff, apart from enhancing my hands-on ability and practical problem-solvingskills.
I took part consecutively in two authoritative Competitions for YoungAdvertisers, which aroused my attention to the discrepancies in the advertisinglevel and the advertising consciousness between Taiwan and mainland China aswell as the disparity in the advertising management. In order to call theserious attention of China's advertising industry to those problems, I publisheda full-length academic paper entitled On the Eve of WTO Accession: A Perspectiveon the Present Conditions of Advertising Management on Mainland China on thewebsite of China Advertising Communication and Research (this website islaunched by XiaMen University, the first university in China to have establishedan Advertising Department and which enjoys a very high academic prestige).
Historically speaking, China's advertising industry can only be describedas underdeveloped compared with that of the advanced Western countries. For instance, therelationship between the client, the media and the advertising company has notbeen properly established. The advertising agent system and the relevant legalregulations of advertising are not fully developed. The awareness ofself-discipline is weak within this profession and a sound system of socialsupervision over unlawful advertising practices is lacking.
With China's immediate accession into WTO, China's overall advertisingindustry will face severe challenges presented by major internationaladvertising agencies. On the other hand, China promises a bright and alluringprospect in advertising industry as China has the largest advertising marketamong the developing countries. The profit of the advertising industry maintainsan annual growth rate of 39.73. Such a growth momentum is sufficient to indicatethe tremendous dimension and the exciting prospect of China's future advertisingindustry. This situation necessarily calls for the emergence of a large numberof highly qualified advertising professionals, especially those who canincorporate both their intimate knowledge of China's domestic advertising marketand international advertising background.
It is precisely against this backdrop that I, equipped with a solidgroundwork (at once theoretical and empirical) in the field of advertisingacquired from my undergraduate education, wish to apply for a graduate program.My motivation is fairly simple: only the United States, a country with the mostunparalleled development in advertising industry and the most prestigiousinstitutions of higher learning in mass communication of which advertising is apart, can offer the necessary environment in which I can mature toward myprofessional goals.
Now that I have charted my course of action, I am on the verge ofproceeding from one point of my life to another point. To return to my metaphorof the alphabet D, I have decided to relinquish the effortless straight line infavor of the beautiful curve, for I believe that whatever the turns and twistsalongside it, it will ultimately lead to my prescribed ideal. 德國留學(xué)坐飛機(jī)準(zhǔn)備事項(xiàng)
1.行前準(zhǔn)備
即將出外留學(xué),家長(zhǎng)們都想給孩子帶上、最需要的東西。辣椒醬、護(hù)膚品、小禮物、電子產(chǎn)品,一不小心便裝了滿滿四個(gè)大箱子。但是,在準(zhǔn)備行李的時(shí)候不僅要考慮自己的需求,更要考慮機(jī)場(chǎng)安檢的規(guī)定。
托運(yùn)行李有許多嚴(yán)禁的物品,譬如說常用的充電寶、管制刀具、打火機(jī)、火柴、酒精、油漆等等。攜帶的食物也有規(guī)定,肉類、未加工皮革或動(dòng)物毛皮,例如肉松、香腸、月餅、醬肉等,都不允許攜帶入境。另外,乘客具有一定的托運(yùn)重量限額,經(jīng)濟(jì)艙旅客為20公斤,商務(wù)艙旅客為30公斤,頭等艙旅客為40公斤。這些可以在收拾好行李后,用秤大致稱一下重量,避免超重,否則超重要付的`錢很有可能遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)大過于行李本身的價(jià)值。
手提行李將陪伴我們二十多個(gè)小時(shí)的旅程,而手提行李也有重量限額,所以裝什么也大有學(xué)問。手提行李中的液體每樣不得超過100毫升,總共不得超過1升。護(hù)照這些出境必備的文件需要隨身攜帶。充電寶也需要放在手提行李中,以免飛機(jī)延誤無法充電。較厚的衣服、圍巾、眼罩、耳塞等也隨身攜帶,這些都能讓我們有更舒適的長(zhǎng)途旅程。
2.登機(jī)階段
機(jī)場(chǎng)辦理出境手續(xù)時(shí)會(huì)遇到檢察官的考核,主要目標(biāo)是考核我們是否為當(dāng)?shù)貛韱栴}。但也不必太過擔(dān)憂,問題大多非常簡(jiǎn)單。譬如說:出行的目的是?學(xué)的是什么課程?預(yù)計(jì)要在當(dāng)?shù)赝A舳嗑?父母是否有過出境經(jīng)驗(yàn)?這些問題只需要如實(shí)回答即可。
另外,我們也常會(huì)遇到航班延誤或飛機(jī)故障的問題。如果不是非常匆忙,只需在機(jī)場(chǎng)、或者機(jī)場(chǎng)提供的酒店耐心等待飛機(jī)起航即可。如果航班延誤以至于耽擱了轉(zhuǎn)機(jī)的航班,可以向工作人員請(qǐng)求幫助,一般來說,航空公司會(huì)免費(fèi)安排另一趟時(shí)間合適的轉(zhuǎn)機(jī)航班。
3.轉(zhuǎn)機(jī)階段
很多留學(xué)歐洲的同學(xué)們會(huì)選擇在中東國家的機(jī)場(chǎng)、或者歐洲知名機(jī)場(chǎng)轉(zhuǎn)機(jī)。因?yàn)檫@些機(jī)場(chǎng)大多設(shè)施齊全,機(jī)場(chǎng)里有免稅店、餐廳、電影院、網(wǎng)吧等休閑場(chǎng)所。在部分國家,如果在此轉(zhuǎn)機(jī)有一定的時(shí)間,還能免簽游覽當(dāng)?shù)孛谰啊?/p>
