These two pie charts show the difference in the sources of income between Chinese and American students. We can see that Chinese students get 90 percent of their income from their parents, however, American students get only 50 percent from their parents. Besides, Chinese students get only 5 percent of their income from doing part time jobs and another 5 percent from scholarships while money from part time jobs and scholarships for American students amount to 35 and 15 percent respectively.

From the above analysis, we can easily come to the following three conclusions. The first conclusion is that Chinese parents like to take more care of their children. They'd rather work harder and live thriftily in order to provide their children with everything they need. American parents, on the other hand, like to pay more attention to the development of their children's ability to be independent. They'd rather encourage their children to support themselves. The second conclusion is that Chinese students are more dependent on their parents whereas American students are more dependent on themselves. Lastly, there are fewer people in America, so it is easier for students to findapart time job. However, in China, such chances are rare since we have so many people looking for jobs.

Financial sources of Chinese college Students are quite different from those of American students. In China, students get 90% of their money from their parents while in America, only 50% of students money is provided by parents. In addition, Chinese students earn only 5% of their money from part time jobs and 5% from fellowship or scholarship while income from these two resources for American studentstakes up(占) 35% and 15% respectively of their total income.

I think there are probably three reasons for their differences. First, because of the influence of different social and family values, Chinese students have formed the habit of asking for money from their parents while American students have developed more sense of being financially independent.Second, most Chinese parents devote too much care to their children and they would rather save up to afford their childrens education rather than encourage them to take part-time jobs.

But in America, many parents pay more attention to developing the students ability ofself-reliance(自立), so they encourage their children to find part-time jobs to earn some money by themselves. Third, since America is more developed than China, it is relatively easy for students to find part-time jobs. In China, such opportunities are rather rare.

I believe with the development of China, more and more Chinese students will realize and pay more attention to the necessity ofself-dependence(獨(dú)立). In addition, more and more opportunities will be provided for them to take part-time jobs. So, more students will go out of theivory tower(象牙塔) to broaden their knowledge and to become the master of their own lives.

Given are pie charts which clearly depict the striking contrasts with regard to the sources between Chinese and American students to obtain financial support. (最大比例版本1)Most distinctively, according to the data given, Chinese students depending on deep pocket of their parents takes a lion’s share, accounting for 90%, while, American college students who rely on their parents financially stands for 50%(最大比例版本2.)parents’ financial support ,the main source of income among college students, whether in China or America, takes a lion’s share, accounting for 90% and 50% respectively.Meanwhile, part-time jobs and scholarship as sources of income separately rank the second and third, occupying 35% and 5% among American students, yet ,occupying only 15% and 5% among Chinese students.

What triggers this phenomenon? It is not difficult to put forward several factors responsible for this.First and foremost, thanks to the explosive growth of the Chinese economy, people’s living conditions have been visibly improved, allowing them to invest more on children’s education so that Chinese college students do not need to take part-time jobs.Secondly, many Chinese students as the single child of their own parents, can be too spoiled to be either financially or psychologically independent. On the contrary, American college students ,only or not the only child in the family are encouraged to have more independent and have more social experience.

In view of the arguments above, we can conclude that the current phenomenon is of no surprise. And therefore, I have good reasons to believe that college students should attach topmost priority to their study. After all, the four college years are the most valuable period in a person’s life to acquire knowledge and to become cognitively strong and mature before they have plenty of opportunities in the future to purse financial independent and success.
